The Scindapsus Pictus Exotica is a collector's statement piece — prized for its large, velvety leaves adorned with bold, silvery-white variegation that shimmers in the light. Unlike its more common relatives, the Exotica cultivar produces dramatically oversized foliage with expansive silver patches that can cover nearly the entire leaf surface, making each plant a one-of-a-kind work of living art.

A native of Southeast Asian rainforests, this slow-growing aroid thrives as a trailing or climbing vine and rewards patient collectors with increasingly spectacular leaves as it matures. Its satin-textured surface and deep green-silver contrast make it a standout in any curated plant collection.

Care Guide

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. The silver variegation intensifies with more light, but avoid direct sun which will scorch the delicate leaves. Tolerates lower light, though growth will slow.
  • Water: Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Scindapsus are drought-tolerant and prefer to dry out slightly between waterings — overwatering is the most common cause of decline. Reduce frequency in winter.
  • Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (50–70%). Thrives in a humid environment but adapts well to average household conditions. Avoid cold drafts and heating vents.
  • Temperature: Best kept between 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
  • Soil: A well-draining, chunky aroid mix is ideal — combine potting soil with perlite and orchid bark for excellent drainage and aeration.
  • Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season (spring through summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Do not fertilize in fall or winter.
  • Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when roots begin to circle the pot. Choose a pot only 1–2 inches larger to avoid overwatering risk.
  • Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
