Scindapsus Maharlika
$30.00
The Scindapsus Maharlika is a rare jewel among aroids — prized for its velvety, deep green foliage adorned with a distinctive silver sheen that shifts with the light. Native to the Philippines, Maharlika (meaning "nobility") lives up to its name with an aristocratic presence that commands attention in any collection.
Each leaf is a study in texture and contrast: matte, almost suede-like surfaces catch ambient light in a way that photographs rarely do justice. A slow, deliberate grower, this Scindapsus rewards patience with increasingly dramatic foliage as it matures.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright indirect light preferred. Tolerates lower light but silver variegation intensifies with more light. Avoid direct sun.
- Water: Allow the top 50–75% of soil to dry between waterings. Drought-tolerant; overwatering is the primary risk.
- Humidity: Thrives at 50–70% humidity. Adaptable to average household conditions.
- Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
- Soil: Well-draining aroid mix — chunky perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir blend recommended.
- Fertilizer: Balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength, monthly during active growth (spring–summer).
- Repotting: Every 1–2 years or when rootbound. Prefers to be slightly snug in its pot.
- Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach.
