The Scindapsus Baharak is among the most coveted of the silver Scindapsus — a collector's specimen distinguished by its exceptionally large, heart-shaped leaves blanketed in a dense, metallic silver overlay. Where other Scindapsus hint at silver, the Baharak commits fully, producing foliage that appears almost lacquered under bright light.

Named after a region in Afghanistan known for its precious lapis lazuli, this cultivar carries a gemstone quality of its own. Growth is measured and intentional — each new leaf unfurling larger and more silvered than the last, making it a living display piece as much as a plant.

Care Guide

  • Light: Bright indirect light brings out maximum silver coverage. Tolerates medium light; avoid direct sun which can bleach foliage.
  • Water: Allow the top 50–75% of soil to dry before watering. Highly drought-tolerant — err on the side of underwatering.
  • Humidity: Comfortable at 50–70% humidity. Adapts well to typical indoor environments.
  • Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C). Sensitive to cold drafts; keep away from air conditioning vents.
  • Soil: Chunky, fast-draining aroid mix — perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir. Avoid dense or moisture-retentive soils.
  • Fertilizer: Half-strength balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during spring and summer growth periods.
  • Repotting: Every 1–2 years. Prefers a snug pot — overpotting increases risk of root rot.
  • Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Handle and display accordingly.
