Philodendron Brandtianum 8” HB
$45.00
Philodendron brandtianum is a quietly spectacular vining species from the rainforests of South America — its elongated, olive-green leaves are overlaid with striking silver markings that trace between the veins in broad, irregular bands, creating a pattern that is simultaneously wild and refined. Less commonly seen than many commercial Philodendrons, Brandtianum rewards the discerning collector with a plant that is genuinely distinctive: fast-growing, vigorous, and possessed of a silvery luminosity that catches light beautifully. An exceptional choice for climbing displays and hanging arrangements alike.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright indirect light brings out the silver markings most vividly. Tolerates medium light well but growth slows and silver patterning may soften. Avoid direct sun, which scorches the foliage.
- Water: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Consistent moisture without waterlogging — Philodendrons dislike soggy roots and drought stress equally.
- Humidity: Thrives at 60–80% humidity. A humidifier supports optimal leaf size and silver marking intensity.
- Temperature: Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C). Keep away from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
- Soil: Rich, well-draining aroid mix — potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark for structure and aeration.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Avoid high-nitrogen formulas, which can mute the silver patterning.
- Support: Vining and fast-growing — a moss pole or trellis encourages larger, more dramatically marked leaves as it climbs.
- Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
