Peperomia Watermelon 6” HB
$18.00
Peperomia argyreia — the Watermelon Peperomia — is one of the most instantly recognizable and beloved species in the genus, its round, fleshy leaves striped in silver and deep green to mimic the rind of a watermelon with uncanny precision. Red-stemmed and compact, it forms a tidy, upright rosette that sits beautifully on a desk, shelf, or windowsill — a plant that earns its place through sheer visual delight. Approachable enough for beginners, distinctive enough for serious collectors.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright to medium indirect light is ideal. Tolerates lower light well. Avoid direct sun, which can fade the silver striping.
- Water: Allow the top half of the soil to dry between waterings. Like all Peperomias, Watermelon stores moisture in its thick, fleshy leaves and is highly susceptible to root rot — water sparingly and consistently.
- Humidity: Adaptable to average household humidity (40–60%). Does not require elevated humidity to thrive.
- Temperature: Prefers 65–80°F (18–27°C). Keep away from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
- Soil: Light, well-draining mix — a blend of potting soil and perlite provides ideal structure and drainage.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer. Peperomias are light feeders — avoid over-fertilizing.
- Toxicity: Non-toxic to pets and humans.
