Care Guide

Light

Thrives in bright, indirect light. An east- or west-facing window is ideal. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun, which can scorch leaves. Tolerates lower light but may reduce flowering.

Water

Water thoroughly, then allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out before watering again. Hoyas are semi-succulent and highly susceptible to root rot — err on the side of underwatering. Reduce frequency in winter.

Humidity

Prefers moderate to high humidity (50–70%). Does well in kitchens, bathrooms, or near a humidifier. Avoid cold drafts and heating vents.

Temperature

Ideal range is 60–85°F (15–29°C). Not frost-tolerant; keep away from temperatures below 50°F (10°C).

Soil & Potting

Use a well-draining, airy mix — a blend of orchid bark, perlite, and potting mix works well. Ensure the pot has drainage holes. Hoyas prefer to be slightly root-bound and do not need frequent repotting.

Fertilizing

Feed monthly during the growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce or stop feeding in fall and winter.

Flowering

Blooms are most likely when the plant is slightly root-bound and receives consistent bright light. Do not remove spent flower spurs (peduncles) — new blooms emerge from the same nodes each season.
