Hoya Macrophylla Pot of Gold 6"
$35.00
The Hoya Macrophylla 'Pot of Gold' (Hoya macrophylla 'Pot of Gold') is one of the most coveted Hoyas in cultivation — its large, deeply veined leaves are a rich, glossy green splashed with golden-yellow variegation that seems to glow from within. The pronounced venation gives each leaf an almost embossed, sculptural quality, making it as visually complex up close as it is striking from across the room.
A true collector's specimen, the Pot of Gold trails and climbs with graceful intention, and mature plants reward patience with clusters of fragrant, star-shaped blooms. A rare find that earns its place as a centerpiece in any serious plant collection.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright indirect light is essential for maintaining the golden variegation; insufficient light will cause reversion to solid green. Avoid harsh direct sun.
- Water: Allow soil to dry out almost completely between waterings. Like all Hoyas, the Macrophylla is highly susceptible to root rot — when in doubt, wait.
- Humidity: Thrives in higher humidity; mist regularly or place near a humidifier for best growth and foliage quality.
- Temperature: Prefers 60–80°F (16–27°C). Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced or bloom-boosting fertilizer at half strength.
- Repotting: Repot infrequently — Hoyas bloom best when slightly root-bound. Move up only one pot size when roots escape the drainage holes.
