Care Guide

• Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Variegated leaves need more light than all-green varieties to maintain their color — avoid low-light conditions, which can cause reversion. A few hours of gentle morning sun is welcome.
• Water: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Hoyas are semi-succulent and highly susceptible to root rot — when in doubt, wait. Reduce watering further in winter.
• Humidity: Tolerates average household humidity but thrives with 50–60%+. A pebble tray or nearby humidifier will encourage lush growth.
• Temperature: Prefers 60–85°F (15–29°C). Keep away from cold drafts and heating vents.
• Soil: A well-draining mix is essential — combine a quality potting mix with perlite or orchid bark for optimal aeration.
• Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can diminish variegation.
• Repotting: Hoyas prefer to be slightly root-bound. Repot only when roots are visibly escaping the drainage holes, stepping up just one pot size.
• Blooming: Do not remove spent flower spurs — new blooms emerge from the same nodes season after season.
