A species that stops collectors mid-scroll. Hoya Khroniana 'Silver Splash' is a rare, slow-growing epiphyte native to Thailand, distinguished by its small, succulent-like leaves generously flecked with silver — as though each leaf has been dusted with metallic paint. The silvering is caused by air pockets beneath the leaf surface, a natural adaptation that gives the foliage an almost iridescent shimmer in bright light. Compact and vining, it's equally striking in a hanging planter or trailing from a shelf.

A quiet showstopper for the collector who appreciates subtlety done exceptionally well.

Care Guide

• Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal and will enhance the silver variegation. An east- or west-facing window works beautifully. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can bleach the silver markings, and low light, which will diminish them.
• Water: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Hoya Khroniana's thick, semi-succulent leaves store moisture well — when in doubt, wait. Overwatering is the most common cause of decline. Reduce watering in winter.
• Humidity: Tolerates average household humidity (40–50%) but thrives with 50–65%+. A pebble tray or nearby humidifier will support more vigorous growth and larger leaves.
• Temperature: Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C). Keep away from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and temperatures below 55°F.
• Soil: A fast-draining, airy mix is essential. Combine quality potting mix with perlite and orchid bark to ensure excellent drainage and root aeration.
• Fertilizer: Feed lightly once a month during the growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength. This is a light feeder — less is more.
• Repotting: Prefers to be slightly root-bound. Repot only when roots are visibly escaping drainage holes, stepping up just one pot size at a time.
• Blooming: Produces small, star-shaped flowers on persistent peduncles. Never remove the flower spurs — new blooms return to the same node each season.
