Chlorophytum Bonnie Spider Plant HB
$20.00
Chlorophytum comosum ‘Bonnie’ — the Curly Spider Plant — is a charming and distinctive cultivar that takes the classic spider plant silhouette and adds a playful twist: its long, arching leaves curl and spiral at the tips, creating a lively, cascading form with far more movement and personality than the standard variety. Striped in creamy white and bright green, Bonnie produces the same cheerful spiderettes on trailing runners, making it as prolific as it is beautiful. Exceptionally easy to grow, air-purifying, and endlessly rewarding — a perfect plant for any level of collector.
Care Guide
- Light: Thrives in bright to medium indirect light. Tolerates lower light well, though variegation is most vivid with more brightness. Avoid prolonged direct sun, which can scorch the leaf tips.
- Water: Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry between waterings. Spider plants are forgiving and drought-tolerant but prefer consistent moisture. Avoid fluoride-heavy tap water, which can cause brown leaf tips — filtered or rainwater is ideal.
- Humidity: Adaptable to average household humidity (40–60%). Does not require elevated humidity.
- Temperature: Prefers 60–80°F (15–27°C). Tolerates a wide range of indoor conditions; avoid temperatures below 45°F.
- Soil: Well-draining potting mix with perlite. Avoid dense, moisture-retaining soils.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can cause tip burn.
- Propagation: Spiderettes (plantlets on runners) root easily in water or soil — one of the most prolific and rewarding plants to propagate.
- Toxicity: Non-toxic to pets and humans.
