Alocasia Silver Dragon Aurea Sport 6"
$75.00
Alocasia baginda ‘Silver Dragon’ Aurea Sport is a rare and luminous sport of the beloved Silver Dragon — its thick, sculptural leaves retain the signature dark veining and reptilian texture of the species, now suffused with warm golden-yellow tones that glow against the silver-green base. A naturally occurring color mutation of exceptional rarity, the Aurea Sport brings a sun-drenched warmth to the Silver Dragon’s already-striking palette. A true collector’s specimen and a standout in any curated plant display.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright indirect light is essential to maintain the golden Aurea coloration. Insufficient light causes the warm tones to fade; avoid direct sun, which scorches the foliage.
- Water: Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry between waterings. Alocasias are prone to root rot — never let roots sit in standing water. Reduce watering in winter.
- Humidity: Thrives at 60–80% humidity. A humidifier is strongly recommended — low humidity causes leaf edge browning and crisping.
- Temperature: Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C). Sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
- Soil: Well-draining aroid mix — potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark. Excellent drainage is essential.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength. Avoid high-nitrogen formulas, which can suppress the Aurea coloration.
- Dormancy: May drop leaves and go dormant in low light or cool conditions — maintain warmth and humidity and new growth will emerge.
- Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
