Alocasia Silver Dragon Albo 4"
$65.00
Alocasia baginda 'Silver Dragon' Albo is an extraordinary mutation of the already-coveted Silver Dragon — native to the limestone karst forests of Borneo, its thick, sculptural leaves carry the same luminous silver-green base and dramatic dark veining, now elevated by irregular splashes and sectors of pure white variegation. Each leaf is a one-of-a-kind composition: part metallic silver, part deep green, part brilliant white. Exceptionally rare and deeply sought after, the Albo form is a crown jewel for the serious collector.
Arrives in a 4" nursery pot.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright indirect light is essential — the white variegated sections lack chlorophyll and require consistent brightness to support the plant's energy needs. Avoid direct sun, which scorches the white sections.
- Water: Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry between waterings. Alocasias are prone to root rot — never let roots sit in standing water. The Albo form is more sensitive than the standard — err on the drier side.
- Humidity: Thrives at 60–80% humidity. A humidifier is strongly recommended — low humidity causes browning, particularly on the white variegated sections.
- Temperature: Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C). Sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
- Soil: Well-draining aroid mix — potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark. Excellent drainage is essential.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength. Avoid high-nitrogen formulas, which can suppress variegation.
- Dormancy: May drop leaves and go dormant in low light or cool conditions — maintain warmth and humidity and new growth will emerge.
- Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
