Alocasia Sanderiana Bull Aurea 4"
$145.00
Alocasia sanderiana 'Bull Aurea' is a breathtaking variegated form of the legendary Kris Plant — native to the rainforests of the Philippines, its deeply lobed, arrowhead leaves are defined by razor-sharp sinuses and bold white venation, now illuminated by rare golden-yellow variegation that suffuses sectors, margins, and emerging growth. Each leaf is a unique expression: part deep metallic green, part luminous gold. Architectural and unmistakably rare, the Bull Aurea is a crown jewel for the serious collector.
Arrives in a 4" nursery pot.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright indirect light is essential — the yellow variegated sections have reduced chlorophyll and require consistent brightness to sustain the plant. The golden tones intensify with good light. Avoid direct sun, which scorches variegated tissue.
- Water: Allow the top 1–2" of soil to dry between waterings. Highly susceptible to root rot — never allow roots to sit in standing water. Err on the drier side.
- Humidity: Prefers 60–80% humidity. A humidifier is strongly recommended; dry air causes browning along leaf margins and dulls the variegation.
- Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C). Keep away from cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F.
- Soil: Fast-draining aroid mix — perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir. Avoid dense, moisture-retaining soils.
- Fertilizer: Balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength, monthly during the growing season. Avoid high-nitrogen formulas, which can suppress variegation expression.
- Dormancy: May enter dormancy in low light or cool conditions — maintain warmth and humidity to encourage re-emergence.
- Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
