Alocasia 'Polly Snow Pink' is a striking variegated sport of the beloved Alocasia × amazonica 'Polly', retaining the classic deeply lobed, arrow-shaped leaves with bold white veining — but elevated with soft blush-pink to creamy-white variegation across the leaf surface. Care Guide

Light

Bright, indirect light is essential — particularly for maintaining the pink and white variegation, which can fade in low-light conditions. An east-facing window or a position set back from a bright south- or west-facing window is ideal. Avoid direct sun, which scorches the lighter variegated sections most severely.

Water

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Variegated tissue is more sensitive to stress than fully green foliage, so consistency matters — avoid both drought and waterlogging. Use a well-draining pot and never allow roots to sit in standing water. Reduce watering frequency in winter.

Humidity

Requires humidity of 60% or above. A humidifier is strongly recommended, especially in heated or air-conditioned interiors. Avoid misting directly onto the foliage. Low humidity will cause browning at leaf edges and tips, most visible on the lighter variegated areas.

Temperature

Keep between 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from temperatures below 55°F (13°C), cold draughts, and sudden temperature fluctuations, which can trigger rapid leaf drop.

Soil & Potting

Use a chunky, free-draining aroid mix: coco coir, perlite, and orchid bark in roughly equal parts. Avoid dense or moisture-retentive soils. Repot in spring when root-bound, moving up by no more than 2 inches to reduce overwatering risk.

Fertiliser

Feed monthly during the growing season (spring through summer) with a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength. Do not fertilise in autumn or winter. Over-fertilising can cause tip burn and may suppress variegation expression.

Dormancy

May enter a rest period in cooler or lower-light months, shedding older leaves. Maintain warmth and humidity and hold back on watering during this period. New growth — often with the most vivid variegation — will emerge as conditions improve.

Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
