Scindapsus Silver Cloud Mutation
$40.00
The Scindapsus Silver Cloud Mutation is a rare sport of the beloved Silver Cloud — a spontaneous genetic deviation that produces foliage with an even more pronounced, almost total silver coverage. Where the standard Silver Cloud displays elegant silver brushing over green, this mutation pushes the silver to its extreme: leaves emerge nearly white-silver, with green receding to ghostly undertones beneath a luminous metallic surface.
Each plant is a one-of-a-kind expression of this mutation, meaning no two specimens are identical. Collectors prize it not only for its rarity but for the unpredictability of each new leaf — a slow reveal that makes every growth cycle an event.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright indirect light is essential — more so than standard Scindapsus. Stronger light sustains and intensifies the silver mutation. Avoid direct sun and deep shade equally.
- Water: Allow the top 50–75% of soil to dry between waterings. Highly drought-tolerant; root rot from overwatering is the primary threat.
- Humidity: 50–70% preferred. Tolerates average household humidity but benefits from supplemental humidity in dry climates.
- Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C). Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
- Soil: Fast-draining aroid mix — chunky perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir. Never dense or moisture-retentive.
- Fertilizer: Half-strength balanced liquid fertilizer monthly during active growth (spring–summer). Avoid over-fertilizing, which can mute variegation.
- Repotting: Every 1–2 years. Slightly snug pot preferred to reduce overwatering risk.
- Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach.
