The Scindapsus Parahyangan is a rare Indonesian aroid named after the Parahyangan highlands of West Java — its native habitat. Coveted for its thick, velvety leaves adorned with a distinctive silver-grey speckling and deep matte-green base, this species is a standout in any serious aroid collection. Each leaf is a study in understated elegance, making it one of the most desirable Scindapsus in cultivation.

Care Guide

Light

Bright indirect light is ideal. A few feet from an east- or north-facing window is perfect. Avoid harsh direct sun, which will bleach or scorch the foliage.

Water

Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Scindapsus Parahyangan is more drought-tolerant than most aroids — consistent overwatering leads to root rot. When in doubt, wait.

Humidity

Prefers 50–70% humidity. A humidifier nearby will encourage larger, more vigorous leaves. Tolerates average indoor humidity but thrives with added moisture.

Temperature

Best kept between 65–85°F (18–29°C). Avoid cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and temperatures below 55°F.

Soil & Potting

Plant in a chunky, well-draining aroid mix — combine potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark for optimal drainage and aeration. Repot every 1–2 years or when roots begin to circle the pot.

Fertilizer

Feed once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength. Withhold feeding in fall and winter when growth naturally slows.

Toxicity

Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
