Philodendron Silver Sword 4”
$15.00
Philodendron hastatum 'Silver Sword' is a striking and architectural climbing aroid, celebrated for its elongated, lance-shaped leaves that emerge in a luminous, metallic silver-blue — a color unlike almost anything else in the plant kingdom. As the plant matures and climbs, the leaves develop a more dramatic, arrow-like form with an increasingly intense silver sheen, transforming from a compact juvenile into a bold, gallery-worthy specimen. Rare, fast-growing, and visually arresting, Silver Sword is an essential addition to any serious aroid collection.
Care Guide
- Light: Thrives in bright indirect light, which intensifies the silver coloration. Tolerates medium light but growth slows and the metallic sheen diminishes. Avoid direct sun.
- Water: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Prefers consistent moisture without waterlogging — well-draining soil is essential.
- Humidity: Prefers 60–80% humidity to support vigorous growth and large leaf development. A humidifier is recommended for optimal results.
- Temperature: Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C). Sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
- Soil: Chunky, well-draining aroid mix — combine potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark for excellent drainage and aeration.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. As the plant matures, feed every 2–3 weeks to support vigorous climbing growth.
- Support: Provide a moss pole or trellis — Silver Sword produces increasingly larger, more dramatic leaves as it climbs.
- Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
