The Philodendron Royal Queen is a striking hybrid prized for its richly pigmented, near-black foliage with deep burgundy-green hues that shift with the light. Care Guide

☀️ Light

Prefers medium to bright indirect light. Best color saturation and leaf depth develop in brighter filtered conditions. Tolerates lower light but growth slows and foliage color may fade. Avoid harsh direct sun.

💧 Water

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Royal Queen appreciates consistent moisture during the growing season. Reduce frequency in winter. Always allow excess water to drain fully — never allow the pot to sit in standing water.

💦 Humidity

Thrives at 50–70% humidity. Tolerates average household humidity better than many aroids, but elevated humidity encourages faster growth and lusher foliage. A humidifier or grouped plant arrangement works well.

🌡️ Temperature

Keep between 65–85°F (18–29°C). Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F. Not frost tolerant.

🌱 Soil & Potting

Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix: orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir in equal parts. Good aeration at the root zone is key to long-term vigor and rot prevention.

🪴 Fertilizer

Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half-strength every 3–4 weeks during spring and summer. Taper off in fall and winter. Flush soil every 2–3 months to prevent salt accumulation.

🌿 Support

Naturally a climbing or trailing philodendron. Provide a moss pole or allow it to cascade from a shelf or hanging planter — both habits produce stunning results.
