The Monstera Jungle Mint is a captivating cultivar celebrated for its distinctive mint-green and pale yellow variegation that washes across its deeply fenestrated leaves in soft, almost watercolor-like patterns. Unlike the high-contrast white of an Albo or the golden tones of an Aurea, Jungle Mint offers a subtler, more ethereal palette — cool, muted, and unmistakably refined. Care Guide

Light

Bright, indirect light is essential. Jungle Mint's variegated sectors contain reduced chlorophyll, so adequate light is critical for sustaining healthy growth. An east-facing window or a position set back from a bright south or west window works well. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the lighter tissue, and avoid low light, which will slow growth and may cause reversion toward greener leaves.

Water

Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 inches of substrate are dry. Monsteras prefer consistent moisture but are highly susceptible to root rot if overwatered. Always use a well-draining pot and substrate, and never allow the roots to sit in standing water. Reduce frequency in winter.

Humidity

Thrives at 60–80% relative humidity. A humidifier is the most reliable method for maintaining consistent levels. Pebble trays and grouping with other tropicals can supplement. Avoid placement near heating vents, air conditioners, or cold drafts.

Temperature

Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C). Do not expose to temperatures below 55°F (13°C). Not frost tolerant.

Substrate

Use a chunky, well-aerated aroid mix: orchid bark, perlite, and a small amount of coco coir or sphagnum moss. Excellent drainage and root aeration are essential for long-term health and vigorous growth.

Fertilizer

Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength every 3–4 weeks during the growing season (spring through early fall). Avoid heavy feeding — variegated tissue is more sensitive to fertilizer salt buildup, which can cause tip burn.

Support

As a naturally climbing Monstera, Jungle Mint benefits from a moss pole, coco coir totem, or sturdy trellis. Vertical support encourages larger leaves with more pronounced fenestration as the plant matures.

Repotting

Repot every 1–2 years or when roots begin to circle the pot or emerge from drainage holes. Choose a container only 1–2 inches larger than the current root ball to reduce overwatering risk.
