Microsorum Blue Oil Fern

Microsorum Blue Oil Fern

Few ferns stop people mid-step. The Microsorum Blue Oil Fern does. Its long, strap-like fronds carry a deep blue-green iridescence — an optical quality that shifts with the light, as though the surface has been brushed with oil. It’s a phenomenon more common in rainforest understories than living rooms, which makes it all the more remarkable as a houseplant.

Terrestrial and epiphytic by nature, it’s adaptable, low-maintenance, and genuinely unlike anything else in a collection.

• Light: Low to medium indirect light; one of the few truly low-light plants that rewards the condition
• Water: Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged; does not tolerate drought well
• Humidity: Thrives at 60%+; mist regularly or place near a humidifier
• Growth habit: Spreading, rhizomatous; allow it to creep across a surface or mount it on a board
• Pot size: Ships in a 2" nursery pot

Iridescent. Rare. A fern worth a second look.
