Few aroids command attention quite like Alocasia Zebrina. Named for its bold, zebra-striped petioles of cream and deep green, this architectural beauty elevates any interior with its dramatic, arrow-shaped leaves held aloft on striking patterned stems. A true collector's statement piece.

Care Guide

Light

Prefers bright, indirect light. Adequate light preserves the contrast of the signature striped stems and encourages large, upright foliage. Avoid direct sun, which will scorch the leaves, and deep shade, which causes leggy, weak growth.

Water

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Alocasias are sensitive to both overwatering and drought — consistent, moderate moisture is key. Always use a pot with drainage and empty saucers promptly to prevent root rot.

Humidity

Thrives in humidity above 60%. Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or group with other tropicals to maintain the moisture levels this species demands. Low humidity can cause brown leaf edges.

Temperature

Ideal range is 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and temperatures below 60°F — cold stress can trigger dormancy or leaf drop.

Soil & Potting

Plant in a chunky, well-draining aroid mix: combine potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark for excellent aeration and drainage. Repot every 1–2 years in spring when roots become crowded.

Fertilizer

Feed every 2–4 weeks during the growing season (spring through summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength. Reduce or cease feeding in autumn and winter when growth slows.

Dormancy

Alocasia Zebrina may enter a rest period in winter, dropping some or all leaves. This is normal — keep the soil barely moist and resume regular care in spring as new growth emerges.

Toxicity

⚠️ Toxic to cats, dogs, and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
