Alocasia Watsoniana Pink Revert 2”
$25.00
Alocasia Watsoniana Pink
A rare collector's specimen, Alocasia Watsoniana Pink commands attention with its dramatically veined, shield-shaped leaves flushed in soft rose and blush tones. The bold silver-white venation contrasts against deep olive-green and pink-blushed lamina — a living sculpture that elevates any interior.
Each plant is grown to order and selected for vigour, vein clarity, and colour expression. Specimens are shipped established in nursery substrate, ready to transition into your preferred growing medium.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun, which scorches the foliage and fades the pink colouration. An east- or north-facing window is ideal; supplement with a full-spectrum grow light in low-light conditions.
- Water: Water thoroughly when the top 2–3 cm of substrate is dry. Alocasia are sensitive to both overwatering and drought — consistent, moderate moisture is key. Use filtered or rainwater where possible to avoid tip burn from fluoride.
- Humidity: Thrives at 60–80% relative humidity. Use a humidifier or pebble tray; avoid misting directly on leaves, which can promote fungal spotting.
- Temperature: 18–29 °C (65–85 °F). Keep away from cold draughts, air conditioning vents, and temperatures below 15 °C (59 °F).
- Substrate: A well-draining, chunky aroid mix — combine perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir for optimal aeration and moisture retention.
- Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser (e.g. 20-20-20) at half strength every 2–3 weeks during the growing season (spring–summer). Reduce to monthly in autumn; cease in winter.
- Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when roots emerge from drainage holes. Choose a pot only 2–3 cm larger in diameter to avoid overwatering risk.
- Toxicity: Toxic to humans and pets if ingested. Handle with gloves — sap may cause skin irritation.
What to Expect
Alocasia are known to drop older leaves as they push new growth — this is normal behaviour, not a sign of decline. New leaves emerge tightly furled and unfurl over several days, often revealing intensified pink and vein contrast as they mature.
