Care Guide

• Light: Bright, indirect light is essential. Variegated leaves contain less chlorophyll, so avoid low-light conditions. Direct sun will scorch the foliage.
• Water: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Alocasias are sensitive to overwatering — ensure excellent drainage and never allow the roots to sit in standing water.
• Humidity: Thrives in 60–80% humidity. Use a humidifier or pebble tray, and avoid air vents and drafts.
• Temperature: Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from temperatures below 60°F.
• Soil: A well-draining, chunky aroid mix — perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir — provides the drainage and aeration this species demands.
• Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Avoid fertilizing in winter.
• Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years, or when rootbound. Choose a pot only 1–2 inches larger to prevent moisture retention issues.
• Toxicity: Toxic to humans and pets if ingested. Handle with care.
