Alocasia baginda 'Dragon Scale' is one of the most visually arresting aroids in cultivation — its thick, bullate leaves etched with a silver-green tessellation over deep olive ground color, the undersides flushed in pale silver-lavender. Native to the limestone karst forests of Borneo, this species commands attention in any collection. Care Guide

• Light: Bright indirect light; avoid direct sun which bleaches the tessellation. Thrives under 60–70% shade cloth or 2–4 ft from an east/north window.
• Water: Allow the top 1–2" of substrate to dry between waterings. Sensitive to both overwatering and drought stress — consistency is key.
• Humidity: 65–80%+ preferred. Leaf quality degrades noticeably below 50%. Cabinet or greenhouse culture recommended for peak expression.
• Substrate: Fast-draining, chunky mix — perlite/orchid bark/coco coir blend. Avoid dense, moisture-retentive soils.
• Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C). No cold drafts; minimum 60°F.
• Fertilizer: Balanced liquid feed (e.g. 20-20-20) at ¼ strength weekly during active growth. Reduce in winter.
• Repotting: Prefers to be slightly root-bound; repot only when roots are actively circling. Terracotta recommended for moisture regulation.
• Dormancy: May drop leaves in low-light winter conditions — maintain warmth and reduce watering; corm remains viable.
