Alocasia Blizzard Batik 4"

$18.00

The Alocasia Blizzard Batik is a rare compact hybrid that merges two stunning traits: the icy white veining of the Blizzard with the intricate, wavy-edged leaf structure reminiscent of Batik patterning. The result is a small but commanding plant — each leaf a detailed study in contrast, with silvery-white markings etched across rich, dark green. A true collector's specimen in a 4" pot.

Despite its petite form, the Blizzard Batik has outsized visual presence and grows with surprising vigor under the right conditions. Its compact size makes it ideal for terrariums, shelves, or grouped tropical displays where detail is appreciated up close.

Care Guide

  • Light: Bright indirect light is ideal. The white variegation is intensified by good light — avoid deep shade, which mutes the contrast, and direct sun, which scorches the delicate leaf tissue.
  • Water: Allow the top inch of soil to dry between waterings. Alocasias are susceptible to root rot — always use a well-draining pot and never let roots sit in water.
  • Humidity: Thrives in 60–80% humidity. A humidifier or enclosed humid environment will produce the best leaf quality and minimize browning tips.
  • Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C). Keep away from cold windowsills, drafts, and air conditioning. Will go dormant or drop leaves if temperatures fall below 60°F.
  • Soil: A fast-draining aroid mix with bark, perlite, and coco coir. Avoid dense, moisture-retentive soils.
  • Fertilizer: Feed lightly every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can burn roots.
  • Dormancy: May experience a dormancy period in lower light or cooler months — reduce watering and wait for new growth to emerge.
  • Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested due to calcium oxalate crystals. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
