Alocasia Balloon Heart Pink 2”
A rare jewel in the Alocasia family, Alocasia 'Balloon Heart Pink' captivates with its rounded, heart-shaped leaves and a soft blush underside that deepens with bright indirect light. Compact and architectural, this collector-grade miniature aroid is a refined addition to any curated plant collection.
Care Guide
Light
Bright indirect light. Avoid direct sun, which scorches leaves. A north- or east-facing window is ideal; supplement with a grow light in lower-light spaces.
Water
Water when the top 1–2" of soil are dry. Alocasias prefer consistent moisture but are sensitive to overwatering — always empty the saucer after 30 minutes. Reduce frequency in winter.
Humidity
Thrives at 60–80% humidity. A pebble tray, humidifier, or grouped plant shelf is recommended. Avoid dry heating vents.
Temperature
Keep between 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F.
Soil & Potting
Use a well-draining, chunky aroid mix: coco coir, perlite, and orchid bark. Ensure the nursery pot has drainage holes. Repot in spring when roots circle the pot base.
Fertilizer
Feed monthly during the growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength. Do not fertilize in fall or winter.
Toxicity
Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Common Issues
- Yellowing leaves: Overwatering or insufficient light — check soil moisture and light levels.
- Brown leaf tips: Low humidity or salt buildup — flush soil and increase humidity.
- Drooping: Underwatering or root rot — inspect roots and adjust watering cadence.
- Dormancy: Normal in winter; reduce water and do not repot until new growth resumes.
